He went back to school at the Haas Business School at the University of California, Berkeley and graduated in 2004.

Swiftly after graduation, Barnetson found a the crux of both his scientific and business education. He joined Samsung Electronics as their Director of NAND Marketing, and then moved on to Nanosys in 2006 where he served as the Director of Market Development where he assisted in the market development of a nano-crystal storage layer for flash memory, and worked with LED Lighting and Methanol Fuel Cells. Barnetson not only excels as a directorial figure in a team, but is an expert in facilitating product innovation, marketing, and growth.

Don Barnetson has always had a knack for original ideas, and in 2010, co-founded TV Anytime, which provided the first ever DVR for streaming live video, and gave him hands-on start up experience.

Soon after he started his own company, he found the ultimate project in 2012. Tech company Lunera was struggling to remain afloat before Barnetson joined the team as their Chief Technical Officer and Chief Product Officer. Quickly, he jettisoned non-performing product lines, honed in on whitespace in the LED industry, and launched the remarkably successful Helen Lamp, the first type-A LED lamp. Requiring no electrician to install, and using 50% less power, the product has proven to be both profitable and sustainable. There is now an entire industry devoted to it, saving the company, and embodying Barnetson’s goals of efficiency.

Now, Barnetson is applying his unparalleled skills at Zorlu Ventures, the US Innovation hub of Zorlu Group, a conglomerate based in Turkey.  He seeks to bring innovative technologies to market rapidly by using corporate venture capital, licensing and sharing of innovative ideas and marketing techniques between Europe and the U.S.  He helps enable young companies to find their optimal position for success while leveraging the immense resources inside Zorlu Group’s $10B organization.
